Subsistence aid for three religious sisters
The congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Divine Providence was founded in Nigeria in the year 2000. The sisters visit the sick and elderly in their homes, caring for them and bringing them Holy Communion. They also support families and women with practical help and advice and are active in youth work and catechesis.
For the past 10 years, the sisters have been working in neighbouring Cameroon as well. Three of them are currently stationed in the parish of Ngondzen, in a remote region in the northwest of the country. It has just two villages with chapels, and 39 remote communities. The distances are considerable.
Martina Myuykonge, one of the elderly ladies in the parish, speaks for many others in expressing her appreciation: “The Missionary Sisters of Divine Providence are a blessing for our parish, and we greatly appreciate the fact that they are among us. They visit the sick and elderly, like us, and bring us the Body of Christ. They strengthen the women and young people, both morally and spiritually, and help them so that they are able to care properly for their families. Although there is a political crisis in our country, the sisters have not given up on us and are still with us. They truly care for our faith and bring us hope.”
We intend to support these sisters again this year with a contribution of $2,520 so that they can continue offering their precious services, even during this time of crisis.
