Press Release – One Million Children Praying the Rosary
Montreal, September 2, 2026 – Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Canada today launched its landing page for the international One Million Children Praying the Rosary campaign. ACN invites children, families, schools, parishes, and youth groups across the country to join a great chain of prayer for peace on Wednesday, October 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Praying for Children in Conflict Zones
“This year, we are asking all children participating in the event to pray especially for the millions of children directly affected by war,” explains Marie-Claude Lalonde, national director of ACN. “The latest figure from UNICEF is alarming: more than 473 million children worldwide live in areas affected by conflict. It is urgent that we keep them in our prayers, especially through the powerful prayer of the Rosary,” she says.

In a letter addressed to children for the campaign, Father Anton Lässer, ecclesiastical assistant at ACN International, reminds us that millions of children are currently suffering the consequences of war. “Fathers and mothers are killed. Many children can no longer go to school. Families’ homes are destroyed. They have lost their homeland and can no longer return there.”
Free resources for praying in solidarity
This year, ACN Canada is launching a new campaign page and providing families, schools, parishes, and youth groups with all the resources needed to participate, completely free of charge. The kit includes a guide to praying the Rosary, colouring pages, a Rosary craft, and everything needed to organize a time of prayer on October 7.
Finally, participants will be able to register on the Canadian campaign page and be added to the international OMC map.

Aid to the Church in Need invites all children, their families, and their communities to take part in this global initiative to entrust to God all those who suffer from violence and to ask for the gift of peace.
