Aid to the Church in Need (ACN Canada)
Mark your calendar! On Wednesday, November 17th, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN Canada) will hold its seventh consecutive Red Wednesday. This event will be bringing people together in solidarity and serve as a reminder that Christians continue to be persecuted and killed throughout the world because of their faith. “I am sending a special message to all Catholics in Canada: Illuminate a building or monument in red in your area to mark this event!” requests Marie-Claude Lalonde, National Director of ACN Canada.
“If every parish, every bishopric, every religious community in the dioceses throughout Canada were to illuminate a few of their buildings, imagine the beauty, but also the message of solidarity that would be sent!” adds Valérie Vulcain, the new coordinator of ACN Canada’s annual campaign and coordinator of the event.
Catholic schools and school boards also invited
In the fall of 2019, students from Catholic high schools across Alberta participated in the event by dressing in red and spreading the word to their fellow students. “We are inviting teachers and students from various high schools, but also from colleges and universities across the country to participate. We have material to raise awareness available right here. Please come in large numbers!” Concludes Valérie Vulcain.
