Over a Hundred People Pray for Peace in Canada
Montréal, Tuesday, October 19, 2021—Yesterday, October 18, a little over a hundred people in Canada, mainly families, participated in praying for peace in the world as part of One Million Children Praying the Rosary, a virtual activity organized by the international charity, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). This moment of prayer bringing together children and their families is part of a larger global movement that has gained such momentum that it was recognized this year by Pope Francis during Sunday’s Angelus yesterday when he thanked children around the world for entrusting their prayers to Saint Joseph and coming together through the Aid to the Church prayer initiative.
Marie-Claude Lalonde, who facilitated the early evening event with the English-speaking group in prayer said: “What a joy to have been able to pray together virtually.” The National Director of ACN Canada continued: “In both English and French, the children were able to experience a time of healing and serenity. This in itself is an excellent point to achieve peace in the world.”
This year, young religious men and women, students from the Institut de formation humaine et intégrale de Montréal (IFHIM), Brother Vidas from Lithuania and Sister Pascaline from Burkina Faso, led the prayers in French while Sister Hortense Victorine from Cameroon led the prayers in English. Each year, ACN provides scholarships to support members of religious communities from different countries in the world, in deepening their capacity for human relationships by attending training at the Institute in Montreal. This training (usually over two to three years) equips the students with many practical, psychological and spiritual tools which contribute greatly to the healing of their communities and to building bridges of peace.
Looking Forward to 2022!
“The date is easy to remember: every October 18. I hope that next year we can double the number of participants!” concludes Ms. Lalonde.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, for another moment of prayer and unity with the children of the world, their families, and all people of good will who would like to join us!
