TWO EXTREMELY VIOLENT GROUPS IN NIGERIA KNOWN AS THE FULANI HERDSMEN AND BOKO HARAM, ARE TARGETING CHRISTIANS.
They are burning houses and crops; they are raping and killing.
In this country already suffering from poverty, the situation has become catastrophic.
Collusion between the local government and the military has been seen in some reports documenting the killing of Christians as well as the transit of money and of weapons.
The parishes are relying on us! The situation of Christians is continuing to deteriorate.

THESE PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST THE LITTLE THEY HAD

They are counting on their parish.
They are in need of food, shelter and also of spiritual nourishment!

The parishes are counting on us!

LET’S OFFER A BIT OF HOPE! By supporting the local religious communities who work and pray for peace, who help parishioners in need in different ways, and thus offering a bit of hope. The parishes are relying on us! Here are a few projects among the hundreds we receive:

A VEHICLE TO REACH PARISHIONERS

Father Tobias Bature from the Maiduguri
diocese needs a vehicle to reach his parishioners. They include a lepers’ colony at the Molai Hospital Centre, along with many people displaced due to Boko Haram attacks.
This man, in addition to offering the sacraments, also offers spiritual direction and pastoral counselling.

MATERIALS TO SHARE CHURCH TEACHINGS

Benin City’s School of Faith offers courses for catechists and seminarians who are a tangible sign of peace within their community. In order to share the Church teachings, the teachers need materials. We know the students are the future – those who, tomorrow, will transmit the faith, so they must have access to a good education.

NEW GENERATOR FOR BAKING HOSTS

The Carmelites of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Monastery in Jalingo bake hosts. Their generator causes them endless problems, they need one as soon as possible in order to continue baking these hosts for their home diocese as well as 6 others in Nigeria. These Nigerian parishioners need the benefits given by the Eucharist to find a little bit of peace and to hold strong in their faith.

LET US PRAY

FOR OUR PERSECUTORS

for peace to return to Nigeria

O LORD,

My heart is enraged.
The persecutors burn, rape, kill.
The persecutors seem victorious.
My heart is enraged.
But Lord Jesus you said to us:
“Love your enemies and pray
for those who persecute you.”**
I beg of you, Blessed Trinity: Jesus Son of
the Father, and most Holy Spirit:
Teach me the Peace of Your Heart
So that I may act with Love…
Even toward my enemies.
Amen
